National Mentoring Month

National Mentoring Month

January is National Mentoring Month, which is so important to us at WRC. Mentoring is more than just coaching people in need. It’s about guidance through your high and low points, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, figuring out what works and what doesn’t, staying positive and as stress-free as possible. Even the strongest of leaders have mentors.

Mentoring can have a significant impact on a person’s life, prospects and outlook. It’s a way of ensuring that people know they have someone they can rely on. We provide educational, career and emotional support as well as guidance for your overall well-being.

WRC Mentors will guide you towards improving your life through a path that usually includes WRC programs, which engage, educate, enrich and empower women of all generations. Whether you are going through a time of need, or need that extra motivation, we have a program that will fit your lifestyle.

We also bring the “4 E’s” of Engage, Enrich, Educate, and Empower to life through our annual educational scholarship. This scholarship recognizes, rewards, and encourages female students who are pursuing a higher level of education to reach a realistic goal in preparation for employment, self-sufficiency and advancement in the community.

A philanthropic leader and friend to so many in the Sarasota-Manatee area, Betty Schoenbaum, whom we lost in July, impacted Women’s Resource Center in a variety of ways. Betty believed that the way out of poverty is through education because “an education is the most important thing you can give a person.”  She influenced countless other philanthropists in the community and during her time supporting WRC, scholarship applicants increased by 40% and with a 62% acceptance rate. For more than 30 years, Mrs. Betty Schoenbaum provided scholarships to WRC.

In 2018, we were able to award 22 women in our community a scholarship to help advance her educational career and we would like to continue these scholarships in honor of her remembrance, but we need your help.

If you are interested in mentorship opportunities, but you lack the time available, you can also support the next generation of WRC through our scholarship program. Please consider sponsoring our scholarship by clicking below.
