In case you missed it…
We’ve partnered with Goodwill Manasota and CareerSource Suncoast to bring local job seekers a Career Opportunities and Services Fair. This upcoming job fair is perfect for anyone wanting to get their foot in the door and meet with a representative from a TON of great local businesses.
Below is a list of businesses participating — if you see any that catch your eye, we encourage to come to the Job Fair at Ed Smith Stadium on August 1 from 12:00pm-3:00pm. If you missed the first-part of this series on how to get you job and resume-ready, take a look here.
To go the extra mile, here are a few great tips to help you get prepared for the big day:
Do a little research about a company that catches your eye. Also, since you’ll be meeting with multiple companies, bring extra copies of your resume — a good rule of thumb is around 10. Dress professionally but be sure to be comfortable, since this is a 3 hour event. A great resource we offer is the Career Closet, where clients can “shop” around for business professional clothing, free of charge.
Greet them with a strong handshake and great eye contact, accompanied with an enthusiastic hello. This is your time to shine (and show off, if you’ve done your research). Before saying goodbye, be sure you’ve already given them your resume and ask for their business card. Afterwards, you can write down important information on the back of their business card so you don’t forget.
An important, and sometimes overlooked, part of a career fair comes after the event. It’s important to follow up with the representative you talked with and thank them for their time and opportunity. While a handwritten thank you is effective, an email works just as great, guaranteeing a timely manner to their inbox.
