Nearly 52 million American adults – roughly 1 in 5 – have a mental illness. And as a millennial, it hadn’t occurred to me that discussing mental health is still uncomfortable for some people. Most of my friends speak candidly about their struggles and triumphs with their mental health, and many of them regularly see therapists. But we know that mental illness shows no bias, and that it doesn’t affect one “type” of person. So why do younger generations feel more comfortable than others in talking about mental health and access to care?
