When you include the Women’s Resource Center in your will, trust, or estate plan, you extend your care far beyond your lifetime. Your legacy gift becomes a lifeline for women navigating career changes, financial stress, mental health challenges, and life’s unexpected transitions.
Because legacy gifts are made through your estate or beneficiary designations, they don’t affect your current financial security. Many supporters are surprised to learn they can make a meaningful future gift without changing their day-to-day budget.
Why Legacy Giving Matters

Every day, women walk through our doors seeking clarity, confidence, and a path forward. Your legacy gift ensures that:
-
A woman in crisis can meet with a caring advisor who helps her navigate resources.
-
A job seeker can access coaching, technology, and training to secure sustainable employment.
-
A woman facing major life change—divorce, caregiving, relocation, or recovery—doesn’t have to walk that journey alone.
Legacy gifts provide stable, long-term funding that allows us to plan ahead, expand programs, and respond quickly as community needs change.
Plan Your Legacy in Three Simple Steps

Step 1 – Reflect on Your Values
Think about the people and causes that have shaped your life. If empowering women, supporting families, and strengthening our community are part of your story, a legacy gift to the Women’s Resource Center can reflect those values.
Step 2 – Choose the Right Type of Gift
You can include WRC in your will or trust, name us as a beneficiary of a retirement account or life insurance policy, or explore other options that may offer tax advantages for you and your loved ones.
Step 3 – Talk with Your Advisor and Let Us Know
We encourage you to work with your attorney or financial advisor to formalize your plans. When you’re ready, we hope you’ll share your intentions with us so we can welcome you into our Generations of Strength Society and thank you during your lifetime.
Ways to Give – Made Simple
You don’t have to be wealthy to make a powerful, lasting difference. Many legacy gifts are simple designations that cost nothing today.
A Gift in Your Will or Trust (Bequest)

Including the Women’s Resource Center in your will or living trust is one of the most straightforward ways to leave a legacy.
You can designate:
- A specific dollar amount
- A percentage of your estate
- The remainder of your estate after other commitments are fulfilled
This type of gift is revocable—you can update it as your circumstances change.
Retirement Plan Beneficiary (IRA, 401(k), 403(b))

Naming WRC as a beneficiary of a retirement account can be a tax-wise way to give. Retirement assets left to individuals may be subject to income taxes, while charitable organizations can receive these assets tax-free under current law (always confirm with a tax professional).
You can designate:
- WRC as primary or contingent beneficiary
- A specific percentage or amount
Life Insurance Policy

You can support WRC by:
- Naming us as a beneficiary of a new or existing life insurance policy, or
- Transferring ownership of a policy you no longer need
This may provide potential tax advantages while turning a modest annual premium into a significant future gift.
Gifts of Appreciated Securities
By leaving stocks, mutual funds, or other appreciated securities to WRC through your estate, you may reduce potential capital gains and, in some cases, estate taxes, while supporting our mission in a meaningful way.
Other Planned Giving Options
For some donors, more advanced strategies may be appropriate, such as:
- Charitable trusts
- Charitable gift annuities
- Gifts of real estate
These arrangements can be tailored to your financial goals and family needs. We’d be happy to speak with you and your advisors about how a gift to WRC could fit into your overall plan.
What You Can Give
Your legacy gift can take many forms. Common examples include:
- Cash
- Securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds)
- Retirement assets (IRAs, 401(k)s, 403(b)s)
- Life insurance benefits
- Real estate (subject to review and acceptance policies)
- Business or partnership interests (in limited circumstances)
Every gift—large or small—contributes to a stronger future for the women and families we serve.
